This brash and mildly maturing illustrator with a flair for the wild, wicked and woolly has been entertaining Daddy-o Designers, Art Wranglers and Hi-Fi Art Directors since 1986. His Good, Bad and Uber-Ugly images have been recognized with over 300 industry awards by illustration annuals including American Illustration, Applied Arts, CAPIC, Communication Arts, Creativity, Society of Illustrators NY, Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, and most recently Lurzer’s Archive 200 Best Illustrators worldwide 14/15, 16/17, and 18/19.
His "Hell bent for Leather" and "Push it to the Edge" attitude has delighted and disdained numerous advertising, editorial, and publishing clients. An apology to those who have tempted trouble for commissioning his work...but hopefully it won them an award.
Since 1993, when not illustrating, he has been entertaining Wide Eyed illustration students with Good, Bad, and Ugly lessons of the illustration industry. He is one of the few educators in North America to have taught illustration at The Alberta University of the Arts (formerly known as ACAD), Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCADU), and currently at Sheridan College. His new book - A Brush With Depth - The Art of Rick Sealock - presents the best of his illustration work and imparts experience garnered from close to 30 years of teaching illustration.
